Renewing your mind is so important in life and your spiritual walk with Christ. In Romans 12:2 it says, “Do not be conformed to the patterns of the world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” God did not create us to be depressed, fearful, or to have anxiety. Along with a long list of other things he did not create us to be. These are worldly things and are actually demonic things. God created us to be in His image, and He is not depressed, anxious, or fearful. When we come into agreement with these things we give a door for them to be there. When we say things like my depression, my anxiety, my pain, my this or that, we are now accepting it or taking ownership of it, when we need to be telling it to leave.
We are sons of Christ, and we have authority over depression, fear, anxiety and much more. We do not have to accept it or claim it as ours. You can tell it to leave you. But then you have to be mindful of it trying to come back. When those thoughts come into your mind, shut them down immediately. This is when you renew your mind. If it is fear or anxiety tell yourself that God has you. Pray and declare scripture over your life. It says in Philippians 4:8 to think about praiseworthy things. Whatever is true, noble, right, lovely, pure, and admirable think on these things. God is telling you right here what to shift your mind to. In Psalms 139:23 ask the Lord to search you. Search your heart and know your anxious thoughts, so then He can highlight things you need to renew.
We need to have a steadfast mind so we can be in peace and trust in God. If our mind is not steadfast it will be double minded, and we then will not be stable (James 1:8). This looks like God has me then you go in panic mode and think you are going to die. I have had anxiety before, and it can make you feel like something is really wrong with you and you’re going to die. Fear is the same way. We do not have to allow them to be ruler over our life. We need to allow Jesus Christ to be Ruler over our lives. Jesus already defeated the devil, all his demons, and tricks. We do not have to allow them in or fall for his tricks and bondage anymore.
Father God, I give You my life. I trust you with my life. You can do better than I can with it. I do not want fear, depression or anxiety anymore. I give them to You and ask You to give me peace, joy, and freedom. Lord, highlight any other bondage I have so I can give them to You, and You can free me from them as well. Lord, thank you for your Son, Jesus. Thank you for dying on the cross and rising again so I can be free. Thank you for helping me get my identity in You back.
